In the upcoming season 2019 - 2020, during the New Year holidays, the Pushkin State Museum invites children and their parents to a bright theatrical journey through the fabulous space of medieval knights. As it was 200 years ago in the environment of the noble society, the Greeks will again be in great fashion in the halls of the museum, and classical antiquity will become a role model.

Many centuries ago, legends about the exploits of the knight Bev from Anton or Bovo d'Anton traveled all over Europe. In Russia, this knight was called Prince Bova, the legend about him was read and retold for several centuries, starting from the 16th century. Lubok tales about the “extraordinary hero” were published in hundreds of editions until the beginning of the 20th century. As a child, Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin also listened to the tale of Bova the King. Many years later, the poet, writing "The Tale of Tsar Saltan", borrows a lot from the old legend and even makes sketches for the poem "Bova". In the 2018-2019 season, we invite museum guests to become itinerant storytellers - troubadours, trouvaires, buffoons - to try to retell the legend of the knight Beauvais again. At the children's interactive playgrounds, young museum guests will get acquainted with the legendary heroes from Russian epics, with warrior-heroes from Russian stories and chronicles, learn about the magical assistants of the heroes - the heroic horse, the enchanted sword and the wise word, explore the genealogical tree of A.S. Pushkin, prepare a gift for Santa Claus and dance a heroic dance near a real live spruce at the New Year's ball. During the fairy-tale performance, young guests will not only learn the plot of the legend about Bova, but will also become his faithful assistants in exploits.
We invite adult guests to walk through the halls of the museum exposition and exhibition halls, as well as celebrate the New Year with gypsies, take part in a comic “fist fight”, brag like a hero at a festive feast, and also learn a lot of interesting things about the culture and life of Russia in Pushkin’s time .

The new program of New Year's balls 2019 - 2020 at the Pushkin Museum on Prechistenka.

All guests will have a trip to the country that Alexander Sergeevich himself dreamed about in his childhood: "under the sky of Africa", in the country of "poor Yorick" and where "the smell of laurel and lemon"; everyone who comes to the holiday will discover the philosophical secrets of the Celestial Empire and find the seven gems of Eastern poetry.

A fabulous performance based on the myths and legends of Ancient China awaits children.

The New Year's holiday program will end with a meeting with Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden, cheerful dances around a living nine-meter spruce and, of course, gifts for all guests prepared by the museum especially for this performance.

first new

A family New Year's ball in an old Russian manor in the State Pushkin Museum is a New Year's event Kira and I choose for the 3rd time. New Year's ball includes a program for both children and adults. The last two times we were delighted with this Christmas tree.

This year, to be honest, the impressions are ambiguous. I will say right away that this time I liked the children's part (at least the one I saw) much less than the adult program, which was at the time when the children watched the play.

So, the theme of the ball was China and Chinese culture.

At first, all the participants of the ball gather near the fountain. Here the children are divided into groups. It doesn't matter which group the child is in; he will still go through all the sites, and then he will be at the performance and in a round dance around the Christmas tree.

The ball begins with the children's part; parents at this time keep the children company.

This time there were only three sites, 10 minutes each. On the first site, they remembered animals that symbolized something in Chinese culture. The task of one child was to show this animal without words, and the rest of the participants had to guess it.

On the second platform, we talked about what people took with them on a trip during the time of A.S. Pushkin. This platform is connected with China by the fact that the great poet dreamed of traveling around the world, but, as far as I remember, he never visited anywhere.

On the third playground, the children learned a dance to a song about a hard-working Chinese bird.

Actually 30 minutes flew by too quickly and it seemed to me that the children did not have enough. The children were taken to the performance and the program began for adult visitors personally.

Part of the sites for adults are repeated from year to year, but this still does not make it less interesting.
A small digression into the history of the house, a story about the exposition in several rooms of the museum.
Iiiiiii! Everybody dance! This time we learned the cotillion in the Chinese manner. As always fun and provocatively :).

Theatrical platforms. This time, as always, it was a love story that had to overcome all obstacles; about the deceit and betrayal of royal persons. Parents gladly plunged into the theatrical performance and, as always, it was very cool :).

Stoss game. On a real card table. The loser had the opportunity to recoup if he answered the question correctly. The questions were very difficult.

This is the end of the adult program. And at this time the guys were already dancing around the Christmas tree. Our group came last and it was impossible to see something in the third row on the balcony :(.

Well, now:

There are three playgrounds in total; last year there were four venues and they were much more interesting and varied. It is even possible that each site was more than 10 minutes long. The organizers explain the decrease in playgrounds by the fact that children get tired after four playgrounds. In my opinion, this is doubtful, especially if the age limit is met.

In past times, some playgrounds were located in the halls of the museum, where museum expositions are presented. This time it was only one site out of three. Perhaps this is reasonable, after all, the activity of children and museum exhibitions are not compatible.

I do not know what the procedure should be when children outside the age limit are brought to an event. We had a child in the group, I don’t know, 2-3 years old; the child, as it seemed to me, did not even speak plainly yet. Mom always persuaded her daughter to come forward to see everything.

As planned by the organizers, the New Year's ball ends with a round dance around the Christmas tree. Our group was the last to come and it was impossible to try to see your child :(. This time, several parents somehow broke through and they were definitely not the parents of the kids at all. When other parents wanted to go to the Christmas tree, naturally, the guards did not let them in.
I approached the administrator to find out why there are parents near the Christmas tree and the guards do not ask them to vacate the premises, and the rest are not allowed. Last time, there were no parents at the Christmas tree. The administrator pretended to listen to me attentively, but did nothing and at the first opportunity she was distracted by her own affairs.

Everything is very well organized: no queues in the cloakroom; for shoes they give a package: additional chairs are put up. At the exit, it is strictly checked that each child leaves with an adult. Another important thing: at the entrance they take away juices and water.

Gifts for children and adults. A children's gift is mostly not sweet, but useful and educational.

I really like that there is a program for adults, because in the New Year's children's tree marathon there is no time to think about your vacation. A New Year's event within the walls of the museum is always atmospheric and unusual.

Reflecting on the impressions of the past and this year, I will think for a long time whether we will go to the New Year's ball next year or make a choice in favor of another New Year's event.

From December 20 to 30, 2016 and from January 2 to January 7, 2017, the State Museum of A.S. Pushkin invites you to Family New Year and Christmas balls in an old Russian estate.
