Ingredients:

  • 3 liters of purified double distillation moonshine, diluted to a reading of 50 degrees;
  • 2 tbsp. l. oak bark (dry);
  • 3 cloves;
  • 1/5 whole nutmeg or nut powder on the tip of a knife;
  • 1 crushed coriander seed or 1 g ground coriander;
  • 3 tbsp. l. Sahara.

Sequencing:

Before preparing cognac, oak bark must first be soaked for 15-20 minutes in hot boiled water, then dried and only then used to prepare the drink. Sugar needs to be dissolved in 50 ml of water and caramel syrup is made.

Next, you need to place soaked oak bark, sugar and all the spices in a 3-liter jar, pour in moonshine, mix thoroughly and send to a dark place at room temperature to infuse for a period of 2 to 4 weeks. If you infuse the drink in a warm place, for example, near a radiator, the infusion period will be reduced to 10-12 days.

After the infusion process is completed and the drink acquires a rich brown color and a pronounced aroma, the tincture must be filtered. First, you need to clean the tincture from large particles of bark, and then again from smaller ones, through several layers of gauze and finally through filter paper. The purified drink should be placed in a dark place for a month for further infusion, after which you can begin tasting.

The tincture itself can be made using completely different moonshine. It can be regular sugar, fruit or grain. In other matters, you can use vodka or alcohol instead of moonshine. Oak bark only adds a special shade to the taste and smell of the tincture.

At home, alcohol tincture can be made on oak bark and so-called oak chips (wood). We will look at 2 of these most popular recipes.

Tincture with vodka, moonshine and oak bark

Homemade oak bark tincture is very similar in smell to cognac. It takes very little time to prepare it. Several additional herbs and spices are used in the composition of this tincture, including: cloves, pepper, oregano, coriander, St. John's wort. All these components are used to taste and are not included in the required composition of the oak bark tincture.

Main Ingredients

  • 2 liters of moonshine or vodka (40 degrees)
  • 2 tablespoons oak bark
  • half a tablespoon of honey

The classic recipe for oak liqueur with vodka without additional spices has a sharper monotonous smell and not everyone may like such a strong accent that oak bark gives to the drink.

The preparation of the tincture is not mediocre. Oak bark is poured into the bottom of the container (optionally a 3-liter glass jar) and filled with moonshine or vodka. Add honey, herbs and spices (optional) and mix thoroughly, then cover with a lid. Infuse the drink for 2 weeks at room temperature in a place protected from light, periodically shaking the sediment at the bottom of the jar. After 2 weeks, we pass the tincture through a filter, clearing it of sediment (it is better to do this several times with varying degrees of purification, using gauze and cotton wool in the very last case), and pour it into bottles. This is how easy it is to prepare a tincture using moonshine or vodka from oak bark at home.

Moonshine tincture on oak wood

This recipe is more complex than the first option for preparing oak tincture, but the result will exceed all your expectations. First of all, the wood must be freed from excess tannins in its composition. This can be done by soaking oak wood and subsequently heat treating it. Thus, the entire process of preparing moonshine tincture on oak wood can be divided into 2 stages:

Preparing oak chips for tincture

From an oak log we make a blank in the form of many chips (a couple of centimeters in width and length) and 5-10 cm in length, having previously cleared the dry log of bark. In this case, oak bark is not used in the recipe at all.

We fill the oak chips with water for 8 hours, after which we drain the water and, without drying the chips, pour it again, and then repeat the same procedure a third time.

For oak chips, prepare a soda solution. To do this, take 1 tbsp. spoon of baking soda and dissolve it in 5 liters of water, after which we lower the soaked wood there for another 8 hours. After the specified time, rinse the oak chips well with running water.

The next step is to keep the oak chips in boiling water over low heat for an hour, then take them out and rinse them again with water.

After all these procedures, we have rid the wood of substances that will spoil the taste of our future tincture; now it needs to be thoroughly dried, first in the air in a dry place for 24 hours, and then in the oven (2 hours at 150 degrees), after which the wood The wood chips will change color slightly to brighter shades of orange and brown. The preparation for oak tincture is ready, it can be stored for a long time, the main thing is that it does not get damp.

Preparation of tincture from moonshine and oak wood

We fry the previously prepared wood moderately. You can use a grill or even a microwave for this. Depending on the degree of roasting, you can vary the richness of the taste of the future tincture, the main thing is not to burn our preparation.

Fill the roasted oak wood with moonshine in a proportion of 30g. oak for 1 liter. moonshine, close and leave in a cool place, protected from sunlight. Unlike oak bark tincture, wood tincture takes much longer to prepare. This drink should be infused for up to six months. After this time, you can notice the golden hue of the tinctures. The preparation time for the tincture also depends on the degree of burning of the wood. If the firing is light, then the tincture takes longer to prepare; if it is strong, then the infusion can be limited to 3 months.

After steeping, filter the drink through cheesecloth several times, getting rid of any remaining wood, and pour it into bottles.

To prepare such oak liqueurs, it is not necessary to go to the forest for oak. Oak bark can be purchased in pharmacies, and oak chips have long been sold in specialized stores for enhancing homemade alcoholic drinks.

Another simple recipe that imitates the organoleptic properties of the original. To make cognac from vodka at home, you need oak bark, hawthorn and rose hips, as well as several other readily available ingredients. The result is a soft drink of dark yellow color with a red tint, a floral cognac aroma and notes of oak.

Attention! Real cognacs and brandies are produced by infusing double-distilled grape distillate in oak barrels for at least three years. The recipe proposed in the article is just an attempt to recreate the color, taste and smell of cognac in a simpler, faster and more accessible method.

To prepare cognac tincture, use only pure vodka without additives (egg peel, birch buds, cranberries, lemon, etc.), since third-party impurities can give an unpredictable aftertaste. You can also replace vodka with ethyl or medical alcohol diluted to 40% or double distilled moonshine.

Ingredients:

  • vodka – 1 liter;
  • oak bark – 2 teaspoons;
  • rose hips (dry) – 8 grams (10 pieces);
  • hawthorn berries (dry) – 10 grams (40 pieces);
  • sugar (honey) – 1 tablespoon;
  • cloves - 4 pieces (no caps, only stems);
  • black tea – 1 teaspoon;
  • nutmeg – 1 pinch.
  • vanillin - on the tip of a knife (optional).

Bark and berries can be bought at the pharmacy. Adding honey softens the tincture, but the drink has a slight honey tint. The main thing is not to overdo it with vanilla, so that there are only weak notes.

Vodka cognac recipe

1. Brew oak bark in boiling water (the layer of water is 2-3 cm higher) and leave for 10 minutes. Drain the broth, rinse the bark in cold running water, then dry in the sun. Treatment with boiling water removes excess tannins, so there will be no baseboard taste characteristic of many “oak” liqueurs.

2. Place berries, cloves, nutmeg, tea and oak bark in a jar for infusion.

3. Pour in vodka. Add sugar (honey) and vanillin. Stir and cover tightly.

4. Infuse for 25-30 days in a dark place at room temperature. Shake once every 5 days.

5. Filter the finished vodka cognac through several layers of gauze and cotton wool.

6. Pour into bottles for storage and seal tightly.

7. Before tasting, leave the drink for 1-2 days in a cool, dark place.

Shelf life – up to 5 years. Strength 37-38%.
